The YachtPro™ Essential
YachtPro™ has been engineering and manufacturing high pressure compressors and accessories for over 20 years specifically tailored for the yachting market. The newest addition to our product line is the YachtPro™ Essential; it is one of our smallest compressors and works on vessels with 208V electrical supply or greater and at least 5kw of generator output. This particular unit is very popular with small commercial operations, and recreational divers alike due to its small footprint, low power draw, and reliability.
The YachtPro™ Essential is based on L&W Compressors' LW 100 E; the most technically advanced portable compressor in its class. Paired with a 3-horsepower TEFC motor, it produces 3.5 CFM and can refill an AL80 SCUBA tank in about 23 minutes. The compressor is rated for 7 hours of continuous running compared to similar sized units only rated for a continuous 2 hours or less.
Like our other YachtPro™ products, the Yachtpro™ Essential comes with our variable speed frequency drive (VFD) which serves as the compressor's control box as well as an electric management system. Instead of granting the electric motor a full power load at startup, the VFD gradually ramps up the power supply to the electric motor. By doing so, there is no electrical in-rush and amperage spike at startup which is associated with any electrical motor. With use of the VFD, the YachtPro Essential draws less than 22 amps at any given time; without a VFD, a similar compressor can draw up to 5-8 times this number at startup. This feature is the single biggest problem small boat owners face when considering an on-board SCUBA compressor and usually the limiting factor in boat installations.
